The Folder Drawer

← All WonderLister user guides

The panel that slides out beside the grid, holding three kinds of folder: the searches you saved, the
folders you made, and the folders the application maintains for you. Clicking one filters the grid to it.

No screenshot. The drawer is a panel over the grid rather than a screen of its own, and the
capture run photographs the pages with the drawer closed. Everything in it is described below, top to
bottom.

Where to find it

Open the folder drawer from Listings,
Listing Templates or Sales. Each of the three
has its own set of folders — the drawer shows the ones for the grid you are on.

The counts, at the top

The drawer opens by telling you when the numbers were worked out: Folder counts are approximate. They
are updated every 10 minutes.
and the time of the last update.

Control What it does
Compute Counts Works the counts out again now, rather than waiting for the next ten-minute pass. It greys out while a computation is running.
The counts are approximate, and the time stamp tells you how approximate. If a number looks
wrong after a big change, read the Counts last updated on line before assuming a fault — it
is almost always simply older than the change.

Saved Searches

The searches you built and saved in Select Search Fields, each with a
magnifying-glass icon. Clicking one runs it and filters the grid to the result. They are not folders in the
filing sense — nothing is in them; they are questions, answered afresh each time.

My Folders

Your own folders, as a tree you can expand. Clicking one shows what is filed in it. Beside the heading,
Manage Folders opens Manage Folders, where they are
created, renamed, moved and deleted.

What you can do How
Filter the grid to a folder Click the folder.
See what is inside a folder Expand it with the arrow. The expansion is remembered between visits.
File items into a folder Select rows in the grid and drag them onto the folder. The drawer answers N items successfully added to folder <name>.
Dragging works from all three grids, and files the right kind of thing. Dragged from
Listings it files listings, from Listing Templates it files templates, from Sales it files orders. Shopify
products cannot be filed — dragging those answers Shopify products cannot be added to a
folder.
A drag with everything selected files everything the search matched, not just the rows on
screen. That is usually what you want and occasionally a surprise; check what the grid says is selected
before you drop.

System Folders

The folders the application keeps for you — by state, by what needs attention. You cannot add to them
or rename them: a listing appears in one because of what it is, and leaves when that changes.
Hovering over one shows a short explanation of what it collects.

Counts in brackets are shown where the feature is on, and always on the desktop. In the
browser a folder may read just its name, with no number after it. Nothing is wrong — the counts
feature is simply not enabled for that installation.

How to file a batch of listings

  1. Open Listings and find the items — search or filter as needed.
  2. Select the rows.
  3. Open the folder drawer.
  4. Expand My Folders to the folder you want.
  5. Drag the selection onto that folder and let go.
  6. Read the confirmation, which says how many were filed.
