Manage Responsible Persons

A responsible person is the business inside the EU that answers for a product’s compliance.
When the manufacturer is outside the EU that is the importer or an authorised representative, and EU rules
require the listing to name them. Records are defined once here and attached to listings afterwards.

No screenshot. This screen is opened from the settings drawer’s GPSR menu, and the capture run
photographs routed pages and the dialogs a page toolbar opens rather than ones behind a menu.
Everything on it is named below, in the order it appears on screen.

Where to find it

  1. Click Settings on the top bar. The settings drawer opens.
  2. Click GPSR, then Responsible Persons in the menu that drops down.

The same screen is a section of the settings page, under Responsible Persons in its left-hand list, and
the Manage link inside the matching block of a listing’s
General Product Safety Regulations section opens it too.

What is on screen

Control What it does
Add Opens an empty Responsible Person Editor.
Edit Opens the selected row. With nothing selected it says Please select a responsible person.
Delete Removes the selected record, after asking.
Help (?) Opens the in-application help for this screen.

The columns

Responsible Person Id, Company Name, City,
State/Province, Postal Code and Country. A listing stores
the id; the address columns are there so you can tell one record from another.

How to add one

  1. Click Add.
  2. Fill in the company name and address.
  3. Click Save. The dialog closes and the screen says Responsible Person successfully saved.

How to change or remove one

  1. Click the row to select it.
  2. Click Edit, or Delete and answer Yes, I’m sure.

FAQ

Q: Is this the same as the manufacturer?
A: Not usually. The manufacturer made the product; the responsible person is the
EU-based business accountable for it. If you make the product yourself inside the EU, the two records
can hold the same details.
Q: Can a listing have more than one?
A: Yes. Responsible persons is the one GPSR block that takes several — see
Select Responsible Persons.
Q: I sell only within the UK.
A: The requirement follows the marketplace and where the goods go. Northern Ireland
is inside it; check what eBay asks of the sites you list on.
Q: Editing a record — does it change my live listings?
A: The stored details change for every listing that points at the record. eBay is
told when those listings are next revised.
