eBay keeps a catalogue of known products. Finding your item in it fills the listing’s title, pictures and
item specifics from eBay’s own record, which is faster than typing them and matches what buyers search for.
This dialog is the search.

Where to find it
In the listing editor’s Account & Site section, choose to search the
eBay catalog. The dialog is titled Search eBay Catalog.
What is on it

| Value to search | What to search for. Choosing anything but Keywords fills this in from the listing automatically — its UPC, its ISBN, and so on — so a listing that already carries the number needs no typing. |

| Cancel | Closes without searching. |
ISBN falls back. Choosing ISBN uses the listing’s ten-digit ISBN, and where that is empty
it uses the thirteen-digit one instead. You do not have to know which the listing holds.

What it checks
- A way to search must be chosen — otherwise Please select how you want to search eBay catalog.
- Something must be entered to search for — otherwise Please enter value to search.
What happens next
The results open in Select a product, where you pick the one that
matches your item.
How to fill a listing from the catalogue
- Enter the product’s barcode number in the listing first — its UPC, EAN or ISBN.
- Open Search eBay Catalog.
- Choose that identifier under Search by. The value is filled in for you.
- Click Search.
- Pick your product from the results.
FAQ
Q: No products were found.
A: The item is not in eBay’s catalogue for that identifier, or the number is wrong.

Q: The value box is empty when I choose UPC.
A: The listing has no UPC yet. Type one, or search by keywords.
Q: Does searching change my listing?
A: Not by itself. The listing is filled in only when you pick a product from the
