Auto Relist Rules Editor

← All WonderLister user guides

An auto relist rule puts a listing back up after it ends. The editor is where one rule
decides whether to relist at all, at what price and quantity, and how long to wait first.

No screenshot. The editor is a dialog raised from the Auto Relist Rules list, which is
itself reached from the settings page — the capture run photographs routed pages and the dialogs a
page toolbar opens, not a dialog inside a dialog. Every control is named below.
This is not the same thing as an auto list rule.
An auto list rule works to a calendar: it starts on a date, runs every so many days, and stops. An auto
relist rule works to an event — a listing ending — and has nothing to say about dates. They are
separate rules, on separate screens, with separate staff permissions.

Where to find it

  1. Open Auto Relist Rules from the settings page.
  2. Click Add for a new rule, or select a row and click Edit.

The list shows Rule Id, Rule Name, Execute Only if Unsold?,
Original Quantity?, Original Price?, New Price (%),
Execute Immediately?, After Hours, After Minutes,
Borrow? and Disabled?, with Created On at the end.
Borrow? is the list’s name for the editor’s New Listing will also have this rule?
— the same switch under two names, which is worth knowing when you are reading the grid.

The fields

Field What it is
Rule name What you call the rule. Required. Name it for what it does — “Relist unsold at 10% less”.
Execute Only If Unsold? Relist only when the listing ended without selling. Leave it off and the rule relists whatever happens.
Relist using Original Quantity? Put the same quantity back up. Turn it off to set your own.
Relist using Original Price? Put it back at the price it had. Turn it off and +/- New Price By % becomes required.
+/- New Price By % How much to move the price by, as a percentage. Negative goes down, positive goes up. Only used when the original price is not being kept, and it cannot be zero — zero is what keeping the original price already means.
Execute Immediately? Relist as soon as the listing ends. Turn it on and the two delay fields stop applying.
Delay execution by Hours and Minutes How long to wait after the listing ends. Used only when the rule is not immediate, and at least one of the two must be given.
New Listing will also have this rule? The relisted item carries the same rule, so it relists again when it ends. This is what makes an item stay up without you touching it. Shown as Borrow? in the list.
Disabled? A switch. Turn it on to stop the rule running without deleting it.
Save Checks the rules below and closes.
Cancel Closes without keeping the changes.

What Save checks

  • A rule name must be entered — otherwise Rule name must be entered.
  • If Relist using Original Price? is off, a percentage must be given and it cannot be zero
    — otherwise New price % must be entered and can not be 0.
  • If the rule is not immediate, at least one of the delay fields must be filled — otherwise
At least one of Hours or Minutes must be specified.
  • Neither delay may be negative — Hours can’t be negative, Minutes can’t be negative.
  • The two delays cannot both be zero — otherwise Both Delay execution by Hours and Minutes can’t be
    zero
. A rule that waits no time is what Execute Immediately? is for.
Turning on Execute Immediately clears the delay. Save does not merely ignore the hours and
minutes on an immediate rule — it empties them, so the next time you open the rule it shows what it
will actually do. A delay left sitting on a rule that ignores it is the more confusing of the two.

How to set up a rule

  1. Click Add on the Auto Relist Rules page.
  2. Type a Rule name.
  3. Decide whether it should only act on unsold listings, and set Execute Only If Unsold?.
  4. Choose the quantity and price behaviour. If you are changing the price, type the percentage.
  5. Either turn on Execute Immediately?, or set a delay in hours and minutes.
  6. Decide whether the relisted item should keep the rule, and set New Listing will also have this
    rule?
    accordingly.
  7. Leave Disabled? off and click Save.

How to pause a rule

  1. Select the rule’s row and click Edit.
  2. Turn Disabled? on.
  3. Click Save. The row’s Disabled? box is now ticked and the rule does not run.

FAQ

Q: What is the difference between this and an auto list rule?
A: An auto list rule runs to a schedule —
start date, frequency in days, end date. An auto relist rule runs when a listing ends. Use the first to
put things up on a cycle, and this one to keep something up once it is there.
Q: I turned off Original Price and Save refuses.
A: A percentage is then required, and it cannot be zero. If you meant to keep the
price, turn Relist using Original Price? back on instead of typing 0.
Q: Can I drop the price a little each time it relists?
A: Yes — turn off Relist using Original Price?, set a negative
percentage, and turn on New Listing will also have this rule? so the relisted item keeps
relisting. Each run moves the price again, so check on it rather than leaving it indefinitely.
Q: My delay disappeared.
A: Execute Immediately? is on. Saving an immediate rule clears the
hours and minutes, because they would not be used.
Q: Will it relist something that sold?
A: Only if Execute Only If Unsold? is off. With it on, a listing that
found a buyer is left alone.
Q: Disable, or delete?
A: Disable if you may want it back — the rule stays. Delete is permanent and
asks first.
Q: It did not relist when I expected.
A: Check that Disabled? is not ticked, that the delay is what you
think it is, and that Execute Only If Unsold? is not excluding the listing. Runs are
recorded in Activity Logs.
