The Payment Policy Editor writes one of your eBay payment policies: how a buyer may pay,
whether payment is required immediately, and the deposit terms for a vehicle. Saving it sends the policy to
eBay, where it becomes available to every listing on that account and site.

named below, in the order it appears.

Where to find it

  1. Open Payment Policies.
  2. Choose the eBay account and the site.
  3. Click Add for a new policy, or select one and click Edit.

The fields

Field What it is
Name What the policy is called. Required, and it is what the picker on a listing shows — so name it for the terms.
Is default? Whether eBay should apply this policy to new listings on this account and site when nothing else is chosen.
Description Three lines of your own notes about the policy.
Payment methods The offline methods you accept: Cash in Person, Cash on delivery, Cash on pickup, Cashier’s Check, Escrow, Money Order, Personal Check, Other. Tick as many as apply, or use Select all.
Immediate Payment Required? Whether a Buy It Now sale is only completed once the buyer has paid.
Paypal Email Address The PayPal address, where the marketplace still uses one.
Instructions Five lines shown to the buyer on the item page.
Deposit amount For vehicle listings: the deposit due. Zero for everything else.
Hours to deposit How long the buyer has to pay the deposit.
Days to full payment How long they then have to pay the balance.
Save Both the toolbar’s save icon and the button at the foot do the same thing.
The payment methods here are the offline ones. Where eBay manages payments it collects the
money itself, and this list is about the ways you additionally accept — cash on collection, a cheque
for a vehicle. Ticking nothing is normal on a managed-payments marketplace.

How to create a policy

  1. On Payment Policies, set the account and site, and click Add.
  2. Type a Name that describes the terms.
  3. Turn Is default? on if this should be the account’s usual policy.
  4. Tick any offline Payment methods you accept.
  5. Set Immediate Payment Required? as you want it.
  6. Fill in the vehicle deposit fields only if you sell vehicles.
  7. Click Save. The message reads Saving. Please stand by…, then Policy successfully saved, and you are returned to the policy list for that account and site.

FAQ

Q: Save refuses.
A: The name is empty — the message says Policy name must be
entered.
Q: Does this change eBay, or only WonderLister?
A: eBay. The policy is created or updated on your eBay account, and every listing
using it is affected.
Q: The deposit fields are for what?
A: Vehicle listings on eBay Motors. Leave them at zero otherwise.
Q: Can I have several defaults?
A: One per account and site. Marking another as default takes the flag off the
previous one.
Q: How does a listing use it?
A: Through Select Payment Policy in the
listing editor.
