Stop Hunting for Stock: Storage Locations for Your Inventory

The item sold. Now, where is it?

A storage location is a place in your own premises — a room, a unit, a set of shelves — that you attach to a listing. When the order comes in, the listing already says where to go.

• Define the places once. Give each a name you will recognise on a listing, and an address or description of where it is.

• Coarse locations, precise bins. Most sellers keep locations broad — a room or a unit — and use the listing’s own Storage Location Bin field for the exact shelf or box. If you do not use bins, the field can be hidden from the editor in Preferences.

• Country and postcode are not decoration. Where an item ships from affects the postage eBay calculates and which buyers see your listing as domestic. Fill them in for anywhere you actually ship from.

• As many as you need. Add, edit and delete locations as your storage changes.

It is a small piece of data that pays back every time an order arrives — especially when someone other than you is doing the picking.
