Store Categories

← All WonderLister user guides

Store Categories are the sections of your own eBay Store — the shelves buyers
browse when they visit your storefront. They are yours to name and arrange, and they are completely
separate from eBay’s own category tree, which the eBay Categories section deals with.
A listing can be placed in up to two of them.

Where to find it

Open a listing in the editor and scroll to Store Categories, or click it in the editor’s
left-hand section list.

The Store Categories section of the listing editor

The two store category pickers. Each entry shows the category name followed by its id.

What is on this section

Control What it does
First store category The main section of your store this listing appears in. Entries read
Category name (id). The field is strict — only values from your store’s own category
list can be chosen — and it can be cleared.
Second store category An optional second section. eBay lets a listing appear in two store categories, and unlike a
second eBay category this costs nothing extra.
Choose the eBay account first. Store categories belong to a store, and a store belongs to
an account, so this section shows “Please select an eBay account first.” until an account is
chosen in Account & Site.

How to use it

  1. Set the account in Account & Site.
  2. Pick the store category the listing belongs in.
  3. Optionally pick a second one.
  4. Leave them empty if you do not want the listing filed under a particular section — eBay
will show it under your store’s default heading.

FAQ

Q: The pickers are empty, or the section will not appear.
A: Either no eBay account is chosen, or the chosen account has no eBay Store.
Store categories only exist for accounts with an eBay Store subscription.
Q: I created a new store category on eBay and it is not in the list.
A: WonderLister keeps its own copy of your store’s structure. Refresh it from
eBay Sync → Refresh Store, then reopen the listing.
Q: What is the difference between a store category and an eBay category?
A: An eBay category is part of eBay’s global tree and decides fees, item specifics
and where the item turns up in eBay search. A store category is a heading you invented for your own
storefront, and affects nothing but how buyers browse your store.
Q: Does using two store categories cost more?
A: No. That is a second eBay category, which is charged. Two store
categories are free.
